A Priceless Cultural Heritage of Rattanakosin Era
Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkalaram Ratchaworamahawihan, commonly known as “Wat Pho,” is the royal temple of King Phutthayotfa Chulalok the Great (Rama I), the first monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. It is one of the most important temples in Thailand. Wat Pho stands out for its exquisite architecture, which beautifully blends Thai and Chinese art.
Unmissable beauties:
• Phra Buddha Saiyas (Reclining Buddha): The largest reclining Buddha statue in Thailand and one of Wat Pho’s iconic symbols.
• Phra Maha Chedi Si Rajakarn: Four stupas built to honor four kings of the Chakri Dynasty.
• Phra Ubosot (Ordination Hall), Viharn Phra Norn (Reclining Buddha Hall), and Sala Karn Parien (Preaching Hall): Architectural masterpieces that reflect the splendor of Thai art and culture.
• Chinese Stone Statues: Various Chinese stone sculptures adorning the temple grounds.
